Russia denies existence of Santa Claus

"Speaker of the Russian Parliament Boris Gryzlov insisted that the only authentic figure for bringing presents to Russia's children was Ded Moroz - Grandfather Frost. Mr Gryzlov was at Velikiy Ustyug, traditional home of Ded Moroz in the far north of the country, when he said: 'No one will ever be able to take away Ded Moroz from Russia - not Santa Claus nor any other imposters."
Russia claims Santa Claus is an imposter who ripped off Ded Moroz. Here is some interesting info on the Russian version of the Western Santa Claus:
Ded Moroz rides a sleigh pulled by horses, has no elves but only his granddaughter (the Snow Maiden or Snegurochka), sleeps in on Christmas Eve but delivers presents to kids on New Years, looks like Santa but only with blue coat and carries a staff and he comes in through the front door not the chimney.
